Summary: 

The main objective of this new research line is the development of novel graphenebased polymeric nanocomposites materials with improved electrical, thermal and mechanical properties for advanced applications. One of the fundamental aspects of this work is the incorporation of graphene into polymeric matrices, producing good dispersions and effective interfacial interactions to obtain the desired functional properties. Chemical modification of graphene sheets is employed in order to improve the interfacial interaction with polymer matrices through new functionalities. Subsequently, the development of methods to incorporate the graphene and functionalizedgraphene into the polymeric host will be investigated. Percolation thresholds and thermal and mechanical properties of the obtained nanocomposites will be studied and compared with nanocomposites that use other conducting nanofillers, such as carbon black, and with single-walled carbon nanotubes (SWNT).
