Summary: 

The main objective of the project is to obtain novel advanced polymer nanocomposite materials using new strategies based on the control of the thermodynamic and kinetic processes that occur at the interphase in polymer blends. We are employing diverse strategies
based on polymer-polymer and polymernanoparticle affinity to develop asymmetric nanoparticle distributions within different morphologies as a function of the nature and composition of the components, modulating the structure and morphology of the polymer-polymer interphase using several approaches, including polymer blend dynamics, reaction or processing conditions, nanoparticle synergetics, and chemical and physical modification of the interfacial interactions. Our final aim is to be able to develop a comprehensive fundamental toolbox allowing the design of advanced multifunctional materials with a view to enhancing mechanical, electrical, optical and thermal properties for a series of key application areas.
