News and Events

The Polymer Modification and Gels Group is part of the Macromolecular Chemistry Department at the Polymer Science and Technology Institute of the Spanish Research Council (CSIC). The Mod&Gels Group established more than 15 years ago is led by Professor Carmen Mijangos. Our Group has strong research interests in both, chemical modification of polymers and study of polymeric gels from different approaches. Our group is actively engaged in multidisciplinary basic and applied research. We are looking at systems of both academic and industrial significance.

The Group has about 10 members. They are involved in numerous projects, courses and activities nationally as well as internationally. Group Members in the group come from different backgrounds and have different areas of expertise (polymer chemistry, organic chemistry, physical chemistry, colloid science, physics). We are fond of projects that require individuals with different backgrounds to work together.

Currently, our group runs different projects in cooperation with several industrial enterprises, universities and research institutes. These projects are funded by National, CICYT and EU programs and also by industrial enterprises.

The Group is a core partner of the Nanofun Poly European network of excellence. These images provide a flavour of the research conducted within the Mod&Gels Group. For more details on the research conducted within our group please see the List of Research Projects and the Publication List .
