Welcome to the Institute of Polymer Science and Technology, ICTP, of the Spanish Council for Scientific Research, CSIC, a public research organization belonging to the Ministry of Economy and Competitiveness (MINECO). The ICTP is located in the Centre for Organic Chemistry “Manuel Lora-Tamayo”, close to the central offices of the CSIC in Madrid.

The objective of the ICTP is the scientific and technological advancement of polymeric materials through research and development, at the service of Spanish society. This objective is pursued through the following activities:

  • research projects and contracts
  • education and training of personnel
  • dissemination of scientific information
  • technical support

The Institute of Polymer Science and Technology recieved its present name in 1987, however the origins of the Institute date back to 1947, within the "Juan de la Cierva" Scientific and Technical Research Patronage of the CSIC. Research in polymers in Spain started in the ICTP.

How to get here?


 

  • Underground (Metro) - Line 6 (grey coloured), Station "República Argentina", Exit: C/ Juan de la Cierva. Also, at a distance of around 300m, Lines 6, 8 and 10, Station “Nuevos Ministerios”
  • Local Bus - Number 7, 16, 19, 51 and C Local Train (Cercanías) - Lines C5, C6, C7, C8, C9 and C10, Station "Nuevos Ministerios" 
  • Long distance Train - Major routes to Madrid arrive at the stations of "Chamartín", "Atocha" (including the high-speed AVE) and "Norte", with excellent connections to local trains, bus and metro. 
  • By Air - Madrid Barajas Airport is very close to the city, and there are special buses every 15 min to “Avenida de America”, Taxis, and Metro with a direct connection (L8) from the airport to "Nuevos Ministerios” (journey time aprox. 12 minutes).
